About us

Give a Helping Hand is a Norwegian Christian charity that helps families and children in difficult situations, regardless of where they live.

We currently have four departments, each focusing on a different area. We have worked in several countries, including Latvia and Ukraine with the project “Room of Hope”, in war-torn areas of Ukraine with emergency aid and evacuating refugees, and in Myanmar with emergency aid and visits to refugee camps.

Our departments

Give a Helping Hand – Emergency Aid

Our emergency aid in war-torn areas helps families and children in difficult situations, regardless of where they live. We have worked in several countries, including Ukraine and Myanmar, with emergency aid, evacuating refugees, and delivering medicine, medical equipment, diesel generators and water filters.

Droplets Of Water

DROPLETS OF WATER is a department working for children and young people affected by conflict and oppression in Myanmar and Thailand. We want to give them safety, faith, hope and love.

We support a children’s home for children and young people in the border area between Myanmar and Thailand. Through close cooperation we contribute food, daily expenses and support for schooling.

At the home the children also learn important life skills, such as building good relationships, working together, taking responsibility and farming the land. The goal is to give them a safe daily life, a sense of belonging and hope for a better future.

Mountain For All

Offers help to people who depend on a wheelchair so they can reach high mountain summits. The goal is to show the fantastic nature we have in Norway to people who could never manage it on their own.

Room of Hope

A project in Latvia and Ukraine run by volunteer Christians. We have helped families who cannot afford to renovate rooms for their children.

Ukraine

Our work in Ukraine began in 2015. Over the last two years we have driven to Ukraine 24 times, handing out food parcels, water, clothing, power banks, diesel generators and other emergency aid.

Myanmar

Our work in Myanmar began in 2023. We visited Myanmar three times during 2023 and saw the situation in the country after the military coup. We want to help the people who are suffering there. We have visited refugee camps in Chin State and Mizoram in India, Karen State in Myanmar, and refugee camps in Thailand. There we handed out medicine, oil, rice and salt. Above all, we met many people and heard many of their heartbreaking stories.

On the front line in Karen State we saw destroyed schools, houses and properties. Many villages have been abandoned. The people in the area suffer under constant air strikes. Many lose family members and are injured every single day. People hide. Children hide and go to school in the forest. We feel our help is not enough, but we still want to share their story with the world outside, so they know they are not alone.
